Sincere apologies for the shameless bump of my post, but wondered if anyone might have some details at all?

Hello everyone
The above Wireless Operator was awarded the D.F.C., gazetted December 10th 1943.
I know he was one of the crew of 35 Sqn Halifax HX328 TL-J, which was written off on December 21st 1943, captained by Julian Sale, D.S.O., D.F.C., and that he had previously served with 158 Squadron.
Can anyone supply a citation or further details of his D.F.C.?
Many thanks.
Regards
Simon

Hi Simon.
Searching the web I found this topic.
The logbook uniform DFC letters etc etc I all have of WO M. Rees.

Hello Ruud
Welcome to the Forum, and thanks for posting.
I'd be interested to know more about W/O Rees. His D.F.C. award was reported very briefly in the Newcastle Journal on December 10th 1943:
NORTH EAST D.F.C.s
The following have been awarded the D.F.C. for “many successful operations against the enemy in which they have displayed high skill, fortitude and devotion to duty.”
...
Acting Warrant Officer Marcus Rees (30), of Newcastle.
However, I can find no link for him to Newcastle-upon-Tyne. He was born in Merthyr Tydfil in Wales, and in 1939 he was living in London working as a tailor, and he returned there after the war, it seems.
Do any of his letters include a reference to Newcastle? Or I wonder is the newspaper article mistaken?

Are you able to supply the citation wording, as I haven't got it recorded on my database

Main areas of research:
- CA Butler and the loss of Lancaster ME334 (http://rafww2butler.wordpress.com/ )
- Aircrew Training (Basic / Trade / Operational / Continuation / Conversion)
- The History of No. 35 Squadron (1916 - 1982) (https://35squadron.wordpress.com/)
[Always looking for copies of original documents / photographs etc relating to these subjects]
I don't want to be a pedant, but according to "Bomber Command Losses" this crashed at 2217 on 20 December 1943. The serials db also needs amending.
Thanks Andy
It's too late to edit my original post, so thanks for pointing it out.
