    Hello,

    MALAYSIA.

406080 F/L Philip William MATTHEWS RAAF.

No.23 Sqn RAAF Liberator A72-348 was on a flight from Manila to Darwin when two engines failed over the Celebes Sea south of Zamboanga. The Pilot, 395 W/C John Edward HANDBURY RAAF, could not feather the propellers; in the ditching that resulted two men were killed: 406080 F/L (Nav.) Philip William MATTHEWS RAAF and passenger Lt I M POTTEN US Army Transportation Corps.
