Default Flt Lt Reginald Cyril Carter

    Hi,

I am currently helping a gentleman on a project, tracing COs of an ATC sqn, and we have both become stuck.

We are looking for the citation of Flt Lt Reginald Carter (service number 149549) of 571 sqn.

Currently we have found that he was awarded the DFC on 21st Sept 1945. He was a F/sgt on the 23rd April 1943 and Flt Lt by Sept 1945. As a flight sgt he was not with any squadron, but is later known to be with 571 sqn.

Does anyone have any information or can point me in the direction of somewhere to look for the citation or more details into Reginald Carter.

    Thank you for your help!

    Peter,

You missed the first mention for Carter - King's Birthday Honours List - 2-6-1943:

    https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/...upplement/2465 see also p.2453.

    Col,
Mea culpa! You will be aware, though, that I and the London Gazette website have a somewhat fraught relationship! This afternoon it was winning hands down!

Thank you for this information. Do you know where I may find his citation for the DFC?

We did not know he was on the King's Birthday Honours list so this has now been added to the history. Thank you!!

This man was my Grandfather. Unfortunately he has been dead some time now. What do you need to know?
