Default Narrative on Bomber Command Loss cards

    Hi !

Recently received copies of two Bomber Command Loss card. The field " Narrative " contains information about the last flight of the plane. In general the handwritten text is rather difficult to read.
The information seems to start always with a ref number, sa
    quote
191 D A/C exploded after fighter attack,... (not possible to read) by German authorities, that bodies were found near the wreckage 3/4-7-43.
    unquote
To which documents (sa 191 D) is being referred ?

    Many thanks and best regards

    Luc

    Default BCL Loss Cards Narrative

    Hi Luc

Wouldn't be "191" [Sqn], [a/c code letter] "D" would it?

    Default Lost card

    Hello Luc

Noticed that you mentioned the date 3-4/7/43. Did it mentioned tha area of the crash ? Is it in Belgium ? I do research on a Lancaster shot down at the date you provide.

    Best regards

    Default Loss card

    Hi Luc,

From the examples I have seen, it is a reference to the source of the quoted information. It may be a 'K' Report, an Evasion & Escape Report, a Red Cross message or a part of a Totenlist.

    Best regards,

    Jérémie

Default Narrative on Bomber Command Loss cards

    Hi !

    Many thanks for your replies.

The aircraft I used as example is BF530 Stirling of 149 Squadron.

On the same card is mentioned as another ref K62. The text after this ref is extremely difficult to read..

Please contact me directly via pm if interested in a copy of the document in question.

    Best regards

    Luc
