    Default Fairy battle k4927 - 35 squadron

    Hello,

Can anyone help with the identification letter of the above aircraft which crashed at Carew in Pembrokeshire on 29/10/1939. I would also like to confirm the squadron code letters at this time - WT?. The aircraft was one of six sent to RAF Carew Cheriton for gunnery practice. The three crew were killed in the crash and the family of AC1 Ewart Looker will be visiting the area for the first time in September.

    Many thanks

    Deric.

    Hello Deric,
    Serial you gave is incorrect.
It was K9472, Rhine, Looker and Connor.
    Code "WT"

If the family have, or are able to get, a photograph of Ewart's headstone that I can include on the site, please could they contact me via the CONTACT page on the 35 Squadron site.

Also, if they have any photographs or documents relating to his time with the squadron then I would be interested in copies of these.

    Regards

    Pete

    Pete,

Yes, no problem. I have a photograph of Ewart, but I am hoping that the family have one of better quality, I have visited the cemetery in North Wales and the photograph I have is a transparency.

    Regards
