Default Officers' Mess at multi-squadron stations

If an RAF station hosted more than one squadron, did the squadron officers all share a common mess or did each squadron have their own? In particular, RAF Catterick hosted 41 Squadron (Spitfires) and 219 Squadron (Blenheims). Would they have shared a mess? I imagine 41 Sq reported up through Fighter Command whereas 219 would have reported up through Bomber Command. Would that have made a difference? Did the bomber chaps and the fighter chaps intermingle nicely or did they stick to themselves?

    Hi

Stations tend to only have one Officers' Mess so all officers on the station would use it.

At a certain Station I was at there were (inter alia) two Squadrons, both flying helicopters. At a Dining-In Night in the Officers' Mess it only needed some clown to say, out loud, "It needs four of 18 to make 72", and those of us not allied to either Sqn would beat a hasty retreat while 'the boys' then 'discussed' the matter in the traditional fashion!!!
