I have been asked to find out more about a recent discovery at Grimston Park, Yorks. It seems that the Church Fenton Fighter Sector Control was located in the riding school here and the balcony, radio cabinets and instruction notices are still in situ. My contact has arranged a visit in the near future. The airmen were billeted in the stables and the WAAFs in huts in the park. The present owner of the riding school is anxious to find out more and is well aware of the historical significance of the site. All this is completely new to me and the web has produced nothing. Can anybody help with more detail?
Is this the same place where Spitfire P8746 crashed onto the roof on 14th May 1943 ?
