Default RAAF Notebook for Initial Training School.

    Hi All,

I picked up from a dealer in Canada a note book as above. It has 192 pages foolscap size with the following chapters:

    Air Navigation

    Magnetism and Electricity

    Law, Discipline, Administration and Organization

    Hygiene and Sanitation

    Definitions

    The Principles of Flight

    Airframes

    Engines

    Mathematics Problems for Revision

It was issued to an Australian airman who went to Canada to train as a pilot but washed out and retrained as an air gunner to go on to 460 Sqn and was KIA in October 1943.

I have never seen anything like this before was it issued to all RAAF enlistments when they entered ITS?

    Regards,

    John.

I can't answer your specific question, but the chapters are identical to the ones in the booklets issued at the Initial Training Wings in the UK, so I am guessing the answer to your question is probably "yes they were".

    Regards

Would your man be: AUS414919 Sgt (Air Gnr.) William Edward EDMONDS RAAF? If so, take a look here: http://www.ozatwar.com/460sqdn/oneway.htm
