    Default 3 Sqdn, SAAF aircraft

    Hello,
Am I right in thinking that 3Sqd SAAF flew Spitfires in 1945 ?
Reason for question is that in AB's KA100-KZ999 there is reference to Mustang III - KH631 being lost with 3 SAAF on the 3-4-45, hit by flak and abandoned near Maribor.
No mention of KH631 as a SAAF a/c in "85 Years" that I could see.

    Hello,

Mustang III KH631 was a 3 Sqn RAAF aircraft. Shot down by A/A near Ptuj, Yugoslavia, on 3-4-1945. AUS432122 W/O Alan CLARK RAAF, baled out, survived and returned later. (3 Sqn RAAF, also lost Mustang III FB290 on this date - AUS427718 W/O William John Francis McINERHENEY RAAF - Baled out near Maribor, Yugoslavia - OK).

    Hello Col,
Thanks for clearing up this SAAFquestion.
Thought it odd that AB would have it wrong, must have been a printers error perhaps.
So 3 RAAF is the correct Unit.
    Thanks
