Avro Anson pilot hatch

Hi all,

I am just now researching an accident of Anson when hatch over pilot's seat spontaneously open during flight and smashed aerial mast.

Could anybody provide me photo or drawing of the cockpit's upper part where can be seen the hatch?

Hi Pavel,

If you look at the Initial Report thread on the Anson MkII section on the lobby you will see a photo of 8249 cockpit.

The escape hatch sat in the rectangular space in the top of the cockpit frame. It was held in place by a fabric strip which could be ripped by pulling on a toggle that used a wire to part the fabric.

The silver wire you can see snaking down towards the spar is the rip wire in its operated position.
