    Default Hurricane P3767, 2 May 1941

    Good evening,

    I'm unable to find any details regarding the loss of Hurricane P3767 (2 May 41 - 401 Sqn). No name nor the nature of flight.

    Anyone knows?

    Thanks

    Phil

    Sure about the date? The BCARS log http://www.bcar.org.uk/new1941-incident-logs has the following;

    March 25th 1941
    Hurricane P3767
    Time: 1510 - Crashed 1 mile north of the airfield while doing an engine test. F/O C.P. Henderson (Canadian) was killed in the incident.

    From that, we can find C/1173 Charles Paul Henderson, R.C.A.F. on the CWGC website:

    https://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/c...-charles-paul/

    His R.C.A.F. service record on ancestry.co.uk includes an accident report, confirming the serial number as P3767, and includes photos of the funeral service.

    Regards

    Interesting post had not realised that these files existed before:-

    Ancestry.com. Canada, WWII Service Files of War Dead, 1939-1947 [database on-line]. Lehi, UT, USA: Ancestry Operations, Inc., 2015.
    Original data: Service Files of the Second World War―War Dead, 1939–1947. Library and Archives Canada, Ottawa, Canada.

    Thanks Simon. My first source was A-B file. Seems that the date given is wrong.

    Hello,

    I dug out my 1st edition of Air-Britain's "P" Serials (1978) p.22 - Hurricane I P3767 - 238/263/258/501/213/1 RCAF/257/401 - Crashed in forced landing 1 m N of Digby 25.3.41. It's the later combined "P1000-R9999" Serials Vol (1996) p.34, that quotes the incorrect date, ie 2.5.41.
