Default Cedric Wessel 69448 RAAF OPS?

    Hi All,

I have been contacted by the son of the above airman. He joined the RAAF and trained as an amour before becoming aircrew and trained as a bombaimer in Canada. He was posted to 27 OTU on 3/10/44 and did 107 hours, then to 1667 HCU where he did only 23 hours training before returning to 21 OTU on 22/5/45.

His service file which is on line. His son recalls his father telling him of operations he went on. My thought is he may have done some “nickel” missions while with 27 OTU. Can anyone confirm this?

    Thanks,

    John.

    Hi John,

Sadly not. At this point of the war the 27 OTU ORB is rather lacking in detail. Only accidents and the unit's total monthly flying hours are given.

    Cheers,

    Dave
