    Can anyone shed any light on the forenames of AJ Smith DFC (A.413909) who (according to the record book) was posted into No. 35 Squadron on 23rd April 1945.

    Any thoughts?

    Op:Juvisy

    T/o 2111 Bardney to bomb rail facilities. Last heard on W/T at 2330, at which time a plot taken fixed the Lancaster 18 km SE of Paris. Those who perished lie in Clichy New Communal Cemetery. F/O Light RAAF had previously served with 460 Squadron, his DFM being published on 29 December 1942.

    T/o 1812 Downham Market, but the port engine failed at 100 feet and exercising considerable skill, F/O Smith RAAF forced-landed 1814 in a field, just beyond the airfield, Both crew members emerged unscathed.
