    An extra incident was Sea Fury XI - VX673 - Hawker A/c.
    Prop hit and killed civilian Mr. G. O. Thomas.

    This ebay item on sale confirms that Cpl ERIC LAURENCE WILLIAM STEVENS 1613125 passed away in Karachi Hospital 5 July 1946 on the eve of Demobilization, Aged 24 years


    POIGNANT LITTLE LOT OF LETTERS AND PAPERS RELATING TO THE CHRISTMAS PERIOD 1945 AND UPCOMING NEW YEAR (1946) AND THE AWAITED DEMOB OF

    CPL ERIC LAURENCE WILLIAM STEVENS R.A.F

    WHO UNFORTUNATELY WOULD NEVER COME BACK HOME AGAIN WHO ACCORDING TO HIS MEMORIAL CARD
    “Passed away in Karachi Hospital India, 5th July 1946 on the eve of his Demobilisation “ Aged 24 Years


    A CHRISTMAS AIRGRAM FROM CPL STEVENS TO HIS HOME ADRESS (75 NORTHBANK ROAD WALTHAMSTOW LONDON E17)
    A SIMILAR ONE TO HIS NEIGHBOURS AT 77 NORTHBANK ROAD
    A LETTER TO HOME FROM CPL STEVENS DATED 28/05/1946 IN WHICH HE EXPRESSES HIS DISAPPOINTMENT REGARDING HIS DEMOB AS IN HE ONLY MOVED UP ONE GROUP AND THOUGHT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE , HE ALSO SAYS “The Country sounds to be in quite a mess at present,but how infinity attractive it seems to me - I’m all for handing India back to the Indians, they’re welcome to every chunk of it !”
    A POST OFFICE TELEGRAM FROM THE AIR MINISTRY DATED 7th JULY STATING -
    DEEPLY REGRET TO INFORM YOU THAT YOUR SON N0.1613125 CORPORAL E L W STEVENS IS NOW REPORTED TO HAVE DIED ON 5TH JULY
    AN AIR MINISTRY CASUALTY BRANCH LETTER DATED 15th JULY 1946 CONFIRMING THAT CORPORAL ERIC LAWRENCE WILLIAM STEVENS RAF DIED ON 5th JULY 1946
    THREE LETTERS TO EDNA STEVENS OF 75 NORTHBANK RD (SISTER) EXPRESSING SORROW AND DISBELIEF THAT ERIC HAD DIED ONE LETTER MENTIONS HIM CONTRACTING POLIO AS SUCH I ASSUME THATS WHAT CPL STEVENS DIED OF
    THERES ALSO A COUPLE OF PHOTOS ONE OF A STREET PARTY (VE DAY?) THE SECOND OF A YOUNG MAN ON HIS KNEES POSING /PLAYING WITH THREE INDIAN CHILDREN AGAIN I’M GUESSING BUT THIS MUST BE ERIC WILLIAMS HIMSELF WHO KNOWS HE MAY EVEN HAVE CONTRACTED HIS ILLNESS FROM ONE OF THE KIDDIES IN THE PICTURE
    A SAD LITTLE LOT CONTAINED IN AN OLD GREEN VINYL COMPLIMENTARY WALLET FROM A HOTEL IN JEROME ST LONDON SW1

    THE LAST THING TO MENTION IS THE SAND CAST RAF CAP BADGE ALSO FOUND WITH THIS LOT , AGAIN I’M GUESSING IT WAS ERIC’s
    POIGNANT LOT A YOUNG FELLA WHO WAS EXPECTING TO COME HOME AND NEVER DID ,WORTHY OF RESEARCH THERES GOT TO BE A STORY IN IT SOMEWHERE

    I am on ebay a lot .. searching for RAF/IAF - India related stuff from WW2 - this came up in one of those searches
