Default R.A.F. Regiment on Bomber Command airfields in the UK?

    Hello everyone

If I understand correctly, the R.A.F. Regiment were responsible for the air defence of Bomber Command airfields in the UK, after their formation in 1942.

What sort of ground equipment would have been used - vehicles, guns etc?

The IWM Collection has this fantastic photo taken at Bradwell Bay, date unknown, showing a Morris Light Reconnaissance Car and a couple of Jeeps:

and this one taken in June 1942 at Jurby, with a couple of unidentified armoured cars:

Would R.A.F. Regiment pesonnel and vehicles have been a common sight on Bomber Command airfields?

    Many thanks,

    Simon
