Default Aircraftan leading James Edward Parsons

Evening all one of my family members tells me that my late Nan's Brother saw active service during WW2. His name was James Edward Parsons He was a Leading Aircraftsman. We have a photo of him in an RAF uniform but one relation says he also had an army uniform, there was also a mention of Commando's but don't know if that's a red herring. My Nan didn't ever say anything about him serving, other members suggest some secretive work but I think that might be wishful thinking. I have an Army number 2247656.

I've been able to get some information on his Father (My Great Grandfather) who was in the Royal Warwickshire regiment and was killed at the Somme.

James Edward Parsons is listed in AIR78 (http://discovery.nationalarchives.go...ls/r/C15625489) with an RAF Service Number of 2247656 so he definitely served with this service.

I would suggest that you apply for his service record (https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records) from the RAF as this will provide you with a start point and may identify movements from one service to another. Note: Ensure next of kin applies so that you get the complete record rather than a redacted one)

    Good luck with your search

    Regards

    Pete
