Default 37936 Flt Lt Denzil Thomas St. Hugh DAWES

I have three issues with this pilot that I am trying to resolve:

    • He was born in Cornwall on 16 Jul 15, but I am seeking the actual place of birth within the county
    • Dawes was posted to 47 (B) Sqn on 10 Apr 37, but I am not sure how long he remained with the unit, though I know it was until at least Feb 39.
    • He was KIA in Libya in 6 Sqn Lysander II, L6877, JV-W, on 14 Dec 40, but I cannot establish we he joined 6 Sqn. Can anyone help me with the date, please?

    Thanks

    Thanks Malcolm

Thanks Peter. Further digging in old notes reveals that 1916 is indeed correct, my apologies, (I have corrected my data) but it is also apparent - just to complicate things - that whilst the birth was in Cornwall, it was registered in Wareham, Dorset! This one might be one of those questions that will never be possible to answer. I could understand it if, for example, it was a "less-than-9-month pregnancy", but that does not appear to have been the case here, judging by the Q1/1915 marriage of his parents. Thanks, nonetheless, for your feedback as it ultimately resulted in a correction of my data, which is the object of this exercise!

    Thanks
    Steve
