    Default S/L Robert B. NEWTON 88464

    Morning All,

What do we know about this fighter pilot? Seems to have had a very good start as he received his commission on 25 November 1940 and 14 months later, he was posted to command No. 411 Sqn. He received the DFC and later commanded 54 Sqn in Australia. What are the units he intially served with?

    Thanks

    Phil

Thanks. I checked 72 ORB and indeed he was posted in from 57 OTU in February 1941. Do we know when he left the RAF?

    Phil,
According to Olynyk's 400 Series claims list and 403 Sqn ORB, Newton appears to have served as a flight commander in 403. Claims were made in Sept. and Nov. of 1941. You may want to check the 403 ORB for more details.
    Regards,
    Tom
