    Default Help needed, first names

    Hello,

Any help would be appreciated with the first names of the following pilots:

    RH LEE J.15085
    JL THOMPSON R.101129
    CM FAIRCLIFFE 759306

I have also a Sgt KR McCormick serving with 85 Sqn in the autumn 1942. Mentioned as being Canadian, I guess RCAF. He made a claim on 7 Sep 42. Any clue?

    Many thanks

    Phil

    Phil (et al),
C M Faircliffe's number (759306) is in the Block 740000-759999. The last Number issued in this Block was actually 759361 (nearly 20,000 volunteering for this new RAFVR!). It started issuing on 1 Jan 37. I do not know when it stopped issuing, so your man C M Faircliffe’s Number is as near as I’m going to get to an End Date. If you find when he Enlisted can you please let me know. This Block is very important in the RAFVR numbers system.
    TIA

    Hi Phil,

FAIRCLIFFE 759306 - in AIR78 there are initials C.M. only.

He doesn't come up in either Findmypast, FreeBMD, or the LG.
We (that is, I!) need to nail him!!

Probably grasping at straws here, Peter, but how about Claire Moorhouse FAIRCLIFFE?

Married Janet Ely at Spen Valley in the September 1943 Qtr.

Deceased June 1982 Qtr which shows a DOB of 16 August 1912.

Of course, none of this shows any RAF service,

    ATB,

    Dave

    Peter,

Don't know if that can help, but this guy who seems not to have any first names was actually a Radar Operator (RO) at 1454 Flight. He was posted in when this flight was formed in July 1941. But he probably didn't enlisted to become an RO. He left in October that year posted to RAF Colerne. What it is strange with this guy is that he appears in the AFL Oct 1945 but still with his NCO service number!!!

    Phil
