Default Looking for Info - Boscombe Down - Lancaster squadrons based there 1942

    Hi,
I am trying to find out some information for a friend of mine whose father was a F/E on Lancaster's, he has a group photo of him sat in front of a Lancaster at Boscombe Down in 1942. Hopefully I can locate the squadrons based there and then consult the relevant ORB's. His name was Ronald Melvin Vincent.

    Any help or guidance appreciated,
    Cheers,
    Rick

    Rick,

There were no squadrons per se based at Boscombe Down, rather it was the home of the Aeroplane and Armament Experimental Establishment, or A&AEE as it was colloquially known. Try AIR29/897 for the A&AEE ORB, which might give you some pointers as to what Lancs were there in 1942. Your starter for ten - R5539 and R5546 were there for diving trials in the first half of 1942 :-)
