Default Immediate post-war period, Middle East: "U.D.F. personnel"?

Going through the 37 Sqdn ORBs for the period from VE Day to spring 1946, I've come across numerous references to "U.D.F. personnel" in the context of the squadron's regular trooping role, transporting personnel around the Eastern Med and (more rarely) to/from the UK. The squadron was based in Italy, Palestine and Egypt at this time.

So - what were U.D.F. personnel?

    Cheers, Pat.

    (I bet it's something obvious...)

    Hi Pat,

I think it's the Union Defence Force, the forerunner to the South African Defence Force.

    Regards,

    Dave

Aha - that's very plausible: the ORBs record SAAF personnel, often on the same routes and a/c.
    Thanks, Dave.
