    Default Dakota crash

Does anyone know details of a Dakota crash in Regent's Park, London September/October 1943? Ronnie Robinson.

42-23759 Douglas C-47A-30-DL (c/n 9621) to RAF as Dakota III FD899. Forced landing in Regents Park, London Oct 6, 1943 after hitting balloon cable.

Prehaps Brian Cull can add some detail on this Balloon incident

Definitely a crash rather than a forced-landing, as a wing was severed. No survivors.

See also Group Captain C H Tighe in Hugh Halliday's list of Gong Getters.
Tighe flew the thing across The Pond in Jun 43. A few months later it lobs in to Regents Park. But I suppose there were shorter airframe lives?!!!!!!!!!!
