91 FS Post

One of my subjects, Cpl S J Clark, crossed the English Channel to join Main HQ 84 Group at Amblie, just northwest of Caen, on 15 August 1944. It is believed he remained with the unit as it worked its way eastward across north France and into Belgium. He was killed when a V2 impacted on Duerne airfield (No 19 Staging Post) where he was based, on 3 December 1944.

His Service Record is not easy to follow during this period of Clark's life, but the last entry which makes any sense is 91 FS Post. to which he was posted on 9 October 1944.

I'd very much like to determine the location of 91 FS Post, and wonder if someone could help?

I appreciate this was a very confused period in respect of service records and that not all movements were notified, let alone recorded.

RAF FT+SU has the following which may (or may not) tie it together for you:

No 19 SP formed 22.05.1944 in No 46 Group at Blakehill Farm; 08/08/1944 officially formed from a nucleus of No 91 FSP at Down Ampney in 46 Group; 09/08/1944 B.14 Amblie; 14/09/1944 Ypres; 07/10/1944 B.78 Eindhoven; 08/10/1944 B.70 Antwerp/Deurne in No 111 Group

No 91 was reformed at Le Bourget on 27/09/1944 but it doesn't seem to follow your route.

That is a great help, Pete, especially the reference to 46 Group. I did not mention it in my original post, but the 91 FS Post was followed, on the next line, by HQ 46 Group. This now suggests to me that Clark was posted/transferred out of HQ 84 Group to 91 FSP controlled by HQ 46 Group on 9 October, which seems to tie in with your advice.

It's not clear cut, but I'm content that he arrived at Deurne on 9 October.
