Default Air Gunner at RAF North Luffenham, December 1944

I am researching an air gunner, who seems to have been at "Luffenham" - I presume this is RAF North Luffenham - around Christmas 1944. He could be undergoing training at the time.

I am trying to pinpoint a unit that he might have been posted to. As far as I can see, this station was home of 73 Base, and a possibility seems to be 1653 HCU. I am, though, uncertain if Luffenham was home to other possible relevant units. Does anyone have more information on this station?

    Regards

    Thank you, Finn

With the time frame I am working on that pretty much narrows it down to

    HQ, No 73 Base (1 Nov 1944 - 1 Aug 1945)
    No 1653 Heavy Conversion Unit (27 Nov 1944 - 28 Oct 1946)
