Default 37451 Gp Capt Duncan Stuart MACDONALD (WILSON-MACDONALD) DSO DFC

I'm trying to fill a few gaps I have in this man's career, and hope someone may be able to help, please.

    • Following a three-year tenure with 41 Sqn, which ended in July 39, MacDonald became a flying instructor with CFS, but I am seeking the date he commenced with the unit
    • Following his tenure with CFS, he was posted to a similar role with 8 FTS, Montrose, later in 1939, but I am seeking the date
    • He was OC 213 Sqn, 2 Sep 40-14 Nov 41, but I am having difficulty finding exact dates for his subsequent postings, which included OC 241 Wg, OC 251 Wg, Staff AHQ Levant, and OC 283 Wg, Balkan Air Force (ca Jun 44-May 45)
    • Postings wanting, May 45-Feb 54 (except Stn Cdr, RAF West Malling, 26 Jan-2 Feb 48)
    • OC, RAF Sylt, 2 TAF, date? Feb 54
    • Admin Staff Duties, HQ 11 Grp, date? Dec 56
    • Lastly, can anyone name the location of his death, in Surrey I believe, on 29 Feb 96?

Any assistance with the above would be appreciated

    Thanks
    Steve

PS Looks like rellies (children?) noted on the Electoral Register at an address in Culham, Oxfordshire, up to 2009. They might know precisely where he died?
