LAWLER, Daniel - LAC - 109960 - registered Durham Western.

WEST, Maurice Stephen - AC2c - 2297369 - the Lincolnshire Echo of October 14th 1946 reported the following:

Airman Thrown From Motorbike Dies in Hospital
At the inquest on Maurice E. [sic] West (18), R.A.F., of Basingstoke, and stationed at Market Stainton, the Louth and District Coroner, Captain R. H. Helmer, returned a verdict of "Death by Misadventure."
It was a sad case. West and another airman, James Patrick Brennan, after adjusting a motor-cycle at the Market Stainton Station, went out on to the road to try it out. West rode pillion. Unfortunately, part of the road had not been metalled, and Brennan lost control of the machine and was thrown over the handle bars, but not seriously injured.
West was seriously injured about the head and suffered a fracture of the skull, which, according to medical evidence, was the cause of death.

    Regards,

    Simon
