Default F/O John Douglas Miller location 1935 ?

    Newspaper: Norwood News
    Published: Friday 20 December 1935

    Parachute Stolen

The theft of a parachute from a motor car which was
left unattended In was reported to Scotland Yard by Balham High-road on Tuesday night
Flying-Officer Miller, the owner of the car. His hockey outfit and an overcoat also were stolen from the car.
The Police made inquiries at once and next day the parachute was found intact in a yard

I am trying to ID Flying-Officer Miller and suspect he may be

    John Douglas Miller 32015
Later Air Commodore with DFC, AFC

    based on Malcolm's web site
    http://www.rafweb.org/Biographies/Miller_JD.htm

    27 Mar 1932: Pilot, No 43 Sqn.
    ?
7 Feb 1936: Flight Commander, No 821 Sqn FAA.

The question is does anyone know if he went anywhere else between 1932 and 1936 - I can't see anything on Flight Global

No 43 Sqn were at RAF Tangmere at time which would match a location for the theft

However, my second question is what would F/O Miller be doing with a parachute in his car.. I had assumed they were allocated prior to flight from a central store.. But it appears from the news report that he had one assigned to him..

Does anyone know if they were assigned "permanently" to an individual - I know parachutes had their own 'log books'

    Thanks

    Paul

    Hi Paul

He was still listed with 43 Sqn as late as July 1935.
