Default 132 (city of Bombay) Squadron

    Morning,

This Spitfire unit was using an artwork on its aircraft in 1943. Various photos exist taken at the end of the summer 1943, but all artworks were scratched off by the censor before release. Does anyone know what kind of artwork it was, possibly in connection of the name the 132 took, 'City of Bombay'. Does exist at that time any coat of arms for Bombay City, official or unofficial?

    Thanks

    Phil

    Hi Phil,

132 Squadron badge was a "Leopard Rampant".........JJ Halley, Sqns of the RAF.

Possibly what you are looking for is shown on page 56 of Chris Shore's 2nd Tactical Air Force vol 1.

Photo and artwork of MH737, December 43, showing stylised squadron badge with Bombay written under. IWM photos CH 11844 and CH 11846.
MH737 was a presentation Spitfire "Ethel Marsden". Gifts of War from Air Britain has a photo of the name but not regrettably the squadron artwork.
    regards
    Peter
