    Hello Pats

The Kent & Sussex Courier newspaper reported his loss:

    Firstly, on March 9th 1945:

MISSING - having previously been reported killed, news has now been received from the War Office by Mr. and Mrs. Bott, of Park Grove, Withyham, that their twin son, Pte. Alfred John Bott, is missing, believed wounded and a prisoner of war. Pte. Bott joined the Army in May, 1944, being posted to the King's Regiment, but later transferred to the Highland Light Infantry.

Then, on June 22nd 1945 it reported the following:

    WITHYHAM
ROLL OF HONOUR - News has been received by Mr. and Mrs. Bott, of Park Grove, that their son, Pte. Alfred John Bott, who was reported missing, died of wounds on March 1 [sic] while a prisoner of war. He was 18.

It seems his birth was registered at East Grinstead in 1926, mother's maiden name Edwards. On the same list with the same district and mother's name is Ronald J. Bott, presumably his twin brother.

FreeBMD has the marriage of an Alfred C. Bott to Edwards, registered Tonbridge, December 1924.

    Regards

    Simon

    Hi Bruce,

Not directly, but he is buried along RAF, RNZAF and RCAF Airmen in Kallenkote Cemetery.
The answer I was looking for is given by Simon.

    THANKS Simon.
