    Default Wellington BJ798 and DV477 forced-landings February 1943

I wonder if anyone can provide information please on the forced-landings of Wellingtons BJ798 of 429 Squadron on the 24th February 1943 and DV477 of 26 OTU on the 16th February 1943.

I believe both forced-landings occurred at RAF Henley-on-Thames, Upper Culham Farm and would like confirmation this is correct. Any help appreciated.

    Hi,

No mention of the DV477 incident in Chorley so maybe not a serious incident. Was not struck off charge until 9.8.44

BJ798, one of 429 Sqn first four Wellingtons, overshot landing at Henley on that date, having thought it was White Waltham. I guess there is some interesting paperwork somewhere for that !

    Thanks Peter

    Much appreciated.
I have found the following which mentions the accident in the 10 Flying Instructors School ORB for the date
This is my interpretation of the wording:

The 16th February 1943 Wellington IC DV477 of 26 OTU of Wing, Buckinghamshire during night flying landed at Henley and struck a defence post seriously damaging the aircraft, the crew were uninjured.

Still would just like confirmation of the accident if the the above helps.
    Thanks
