There's another brace of 1401 (Met) Flt incidents in this list. This time was before the trade of Met Air Observer had been invented by the RAF. The Navs not only did the 'navving' but also did the Met Obs (helped/hindered, no doubt, by whichever WoP/AG was not 'on the key'?). We, in the Met Team, know little about the personnel of the Met Recce's of this period - 1401 seemed to bend/break/lose a lot of airframes?

Where is the detail? Or does one have a accumulate it 1180 by 1180?

    TIA

    Hello,

    COASTAL COMMAND.
    May 1942
    18/. Catalina I - 202 Sqn - AJ158.

Damaged by Vichy D.520s and ditched 10m off Oran, 18.5.42; sunk by gunfire from HMS "Isis".

    See: RAF A/C AA100 to AZ999/Halley/A-B,2000(2nd.ed.)/64.

The pilot, 41547 F/L Arthur James BRADLEY RAF (CAN/RAF - later DFC,MiD), and co-pilot AUS403605 P/O Stanley George SISMEY RAAF*, were both seriously wounded (both survived).

    Peter,

Other than the F1180s from Hendon, you could request a copy of the 1401 Met Flight ORB for May from TNA; file reference AIR 29/866/1.
