Default Grandfather's RAF Number Not Found

    Hi there,

My Grandfather was a Flight-Sergeant in the RAF, based in Singapore. We believe he was a member of Squadron 205, but in his diary he has said he was a member of Squadron 104.

Nevertheless, whenever we search his number (507330), nothing comes up, which is very unusual.

If anyone know the reason for this I'd be very grateful.

    Kind regards,

    Seb

Can you provide his name, including all forenames, so that we can see what we can find

....... just found his name in your other post in http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/sho...-205-Singapore [Admin; can these be merged].

When you say that you have looked for his service number but can't find him, could you tell us where you have looked?

Also, you should be aware that there are limited records about ground crew in the Squadron's Operations Record Books, so you may have to rely on books regarding the fall of Singapore to gain additional information.

    Good luck with your search

    Regards

    Pete

    Seb, Hi,
Yr Grandfather’s Service Number is in the Block 505001-549999 issued to Civilians joining the RAF after 01-Oct-25 and (possibly) up to 30-Apr-38. Nearer 1 Oct 25 than 30 Apr 38.

As PeteT says, you have not given us any clues as to where/how you have searched, but if you have just entered his service number on the Internet I am not surprised you have been unsuccessful. Your best approach would be to obtain his service record; details as to how to do this can be found in my #3 of http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/sho...in-Middle-East.
