Default Raymond Charles Schmidt 434027 (RAAF) 61SQN RAF

I've come across a request by someone looking for information on their grandfather, Raymond Schmidt, in the hope they can get him recognized for a Bomber Command clasp.

Raymond was an RAAF member who served with 61SQN RAF between Nov 44 and 08 May 45. If anyone has the ORBs from this period would you be able to check for his name and let me know? TIA

    Hello,

    11 November 1944
    No.61 Sqn
    Lancaster III JB138:QR-J "Just Jane"
    Op: Harburg

    Up: 1613 Down: 2155

    F/O H R SMITH RCAF
    Sgt R HARRIS
    Sgt R A WILLIAMS
    Sgt M GIBSON
    F/Sgt R SCHMIDT RAAF*
    F/O G R BENNETT RCAF
    F/O G BOBENIC RCAF

    *AUS434027 Raymond SCHMIDT RAAF

Her (JB138), next major problem might well have been fatal, for on a daylight sortie to Duren on 16 November the aircraft was hit by a falling bomb and lost an engine! Flying Officer H R Smith RCAF was flying JB138 for the second time - and last.

G'day Col and thanks. I'll pass this information on to her but she is really wanting a copy of the ORB with his name in it for their application to be recognised.

    Dean,

That's why I included the dates! Alan Wells, a member of this Forum, has a copy of the No.61 Sqn ORB + Apps. Hopefully, he will see these posts.
