Sgt Edward Cyril Adams - 745769 - RAFVR - 5 FTS - Killed on Service on 08 Aug 40

I am trying to identify the circumstances on the loss of Sgt E C Adams RAFVR who was lost in service in a flying accident on 08 Aug 40. The CWGC site lists him with 5 FTS and the DC lists the accident as having occurred at Byley in Cheshire. Could anyone assist with details of the circumstances etc and A/C type? . Sgt Adams is buried at Aylesford in Kent.
Any assistance is appreciated.

Take-off from the NW (grass) runway at Cranage. Impact at Byley (2.24 sm from Cranage). Miles Master I. N7714. (tks to Malcolm's RAFWEB for that).
You can download a reasonable estimate of the weather at the time. The actual Met Obs Book for RAF Cranage should be still in the Met Off Archives at Exeter.

Master N7714 crashed on take off. C of I found airscrew in coarse pitch.

Unfortunately the Cranage Daily Register only covers 1 January 1941 to 29 February 1944 - ie outside your time frame.

The 765C in his casualty file states the following:

"After the accident the airscrew control in the front cockpit was found to be in coarse but the control may have been knocked into this position during the crash."
Signed by the station engineering officer.

"From accounts it appears that the pilot swerved while taking off and after reaching about 50ft turned slightly and lost height, striking some H.T. wires and crashing."

Two of the message forms refer to damage to cables and a building, but none say what the building was.
