Default 179598 Charles Fraser Pearce D.F.C. 274 Sqn - citation available?

    Hello everyone

The above Flight Lieutenant had his D.F.C. gazetted on September 14th 1945, listed as serving with 274 Sqn on Tempests. He's mentioned a couple of times in Shores' and Thomas' third volume of "2nd Tactical Air Force", with regards to Tempests EJ541 and NV922 which had undercarriage issues in April and May 1945, and his D.F.C. was reported in the Berwickshire News of September 25th 1945:

    Awarded The D.F.C.
F/Lieut. C. F. Pearce, son of Mr and Mrs C. A. Pearce, “Dalveen,” Castle Drive, Berwick, who has been awarded the D.F.C.

I wondered if there was a citation available which might give a little more info - there's nothing in the LG entry.

    Many thanks.

    Reagrds,

    Simon

PEARCE, Charles Frazer, A/F/L (179598, RAFVR) - No.274 Squadron - Distinguished Flying Cross - awarded as per London Gazette dated 14 September 1945. Citation from Air Ministry Bulletin 19670.

Flight Lieutenant Pearce has completed numerous sorties over enemy occupied territory. He has taken part in long range escorts and has also penetrated deep into Germany to attack bridges and other important targets. Since being appointed Flight Commander he has led his flight with great distinction and has destroyed eight enemy aircraft on the ground and also numerous motor vehicles and locomotives. This officer has always shown great keenness and determination and has never let either adverse weather or enemy opposition to deter him from completing his allotted tasks.
