Closed Air-81 Files - The Policy and how to un close them

I reckon a good 50% of the 21 Unclosed ones are due to people on this forum!

Hi Paul,
Do you know if a closed file exists for Charles Derek Whittingham?
He was shot down and injured on July 29th 1940 whilst serving with 151 Squadron.
I have been to the national archives but nothing was available at that time.
I was hoping that his file was one due to be released.

I cant find a record of him nor Milne - Obviously a casualty file was not raised

I know his detailed Personnel File would have been destroyed but the one of his posting should still exist - it should say if he was hospitalised ?

Or the date of the incident is wrong

Have you ever managed to get access to his log books to see what they say ?- His golf clubs were sold in 2011 so I would assume some of his heirlooms would exist
