Default Flight Sergeant Pilot 534866 Francis Augustine James Burroughs, OTU

I'm trying to find out where and when Flight Sergeant Pilot 534866 Francis Augustine James Burroughs enlisted. If a photo of him was available, that would be ideal. It would also help to know what OTU.

He was born 13/09/1915 Abersychan, Pontypool and died 01/05/1944 (Died whilst flying in a Beaufighter VI, which flew into the ground near Langholm in Dumfries whilst flying in low cloud).

Son of Francis Reginald and Annie Burroughs of 20 Wellington Road, Pontypool, Monmouthshire
Husband of Vera Dorothy Burroughs of 9 Portland Street, Fareham, Hampshire

    Any help very much appreciated!

I can't help with where he enlisted, his crash is one I am still to research fully but I have made some enquiries about it locally and had a chat with a witness who confirms that the aircraft struck the top of St.Brides Hill 4.5 miles SW of Langholm and crashed into the Logan Water at the foot of the hill close to Cleuchfoot Cottages.

I would be interested in any info or photos you may have of Francis.

Are you aware of the Hurricane P3463 that crashed at or near Cleuchfoot Cottage 6 February 1942?

I'm aware of it but couldn't find a witness who recalled where exactly it came down.

I'm afraid that I only have a photo of his gravestone at this stage.

If he didn't have deferred service then his service number indicates a Sep/Oct 1936 enlistment.
In fond memory of Corporal James Oakland AGC (RMP), killed in action in Afghanistan on 22 October 2009. Exemplo Ducemus.
