Default evader brought from Gibraltar to Portreath

    Hi,

one of the flyers participating in the raid against Dusseldorf evaded and has been brought back to England. He left Gibraltar on 6.11.1943 and arrived at Portreath on the same day.

I would like to know which aircraft he took, but this seems to be a bit difficult to achieve because the RAF Station Portreath has been used by numerours squadrons and the USAAF. Can anybody give me a hint how to get this information? Do you think it is possible that an American aircraft transported him back? Or is it possible that aircraft of BOAC landed at this airfield too? Many possibilities ...

    Best

You could look at the Gibraltar ORBs and compare the aircraft to those in the Porteath ORB.

    Hi Bruce,

so these ORB are station ORBs listing all incoming and outgoing a/c?

ORBs vary a lot on this point: some have this information, some do not. Sorry Marcel, the only way to find out is to look at the individual ORB and see the 'style' they used.

Perhaps someone on the forum has seen Gibraltar ORBs for 1943 and can say whether this level of detail is included?
