    Do you have any information about Vultee Vengeances operated in Italy? No squadron operated them officially, I think.

    Here is a least one instance of (RAF) Vengeances in Italy:

    No.23 Anti-Aircraft Co-operation Unit.

    Formed 1.8.43 at HABBANIYA; 29.5.44 to Italy via Egypt and join MACAF; 10.6.44 FOGGIA in No.202 Group; 4.8.44 POMIGLIANO; 2.9.44 FALCONARA; 21.9.44 joined No.335 Wing; 3.4.45 dett of 3 Vengeance & 1 Hurricane to Tarquinia (13.6.45 dett to Ciampino); 1.8.45 CIAMPINO; Disbanded 15.3.46.

    (Representative) Aircraft:

    Defiant TT.I (DR975); Argus II (FS651); Vengeance II, IV (FD400); Hurricane IIc (LD306); Audax.

    A few examples of No.23 AACU Vengeances:

    IV (ex-42-101291), HB458 - Lost aileron control; bellylanded 4m W of Pomigliano 30.1.45; DBR.
    IV (ex-42-101307), HB474 - Engine Cut; bellylanded half-a-mile SE of Pomigliano, 2.4.45; DBR.
