Default Assistant Bombing Leader - RCAF Bomber Squadron 1945

    Hi all,

I would like to ask if I understand correctly that "Assistant Bombing Leader" was the ground function having nothing to do with Master Bomber during an operational sortie?
I suppose he was to help the Bombing Leader who was responsible for things like to keep knowlegde of all Air Bombers up to date, to provide them additional training at the squadron, to teach and examine newcomers, etc. Simply he was helping Bombing Leader in all thinks which may help the squadron to get the best results in bombing of enemy targets.

    TIA

    Hi Pavel,

A bit: LAWS, P/O James Robert (J16669) - Distinguished Flying Cross

...As assistant bombing leader the high standard of efficiency of the bomb aimers in the squadron is directly attributable to the untiring efforts and enthusiasm of Pilot Officer Laws.
