    Default Severed hand and wrist

    Hi,

Does anybody know the name of the unfortunate fighter pilot, please?

    Holland, February 1945:

… As the aircraft made its wheels-up landing the sliding canopy slammed shut, cutting off the pilot’s left hand just above the wrist …

    Regards

    Mojmir

    Hi Mojmir
I think the incident you describe actually took place on 8 December 1944, the unfortunate pilot being Major J Vaissier (Free French). Volkel, 274 Sqn Tempest, EJ597/JJ-D, engine failure on take-off, overshot, turned over cat E.
Sources, F.1180, ORB, eye witness reports.
    Kind regards
    Chris

    Hi Chris,

Thank you very much for your quick reply.
But sorry for my delay. I was looking for hedgehogs in our park on Wednesday afternoon…The winter is coming…

    Advice:
When you put a stick to the wasp nest, you have your arms like Popeye the sailor - but you can not type on the keyboard for two days…

    Kind regards

It could have been worse: look at the name of this thread.
