All
I went to my son's school remembrance service on Sunday and they provide a Roll of Honour for the School which was also read out - I had a quick look at all the names for RAF
I am excluding WW1 and post ww2 names
I checked a few of the names on the CWGC and it is obvious that they have at least 1 duplication and I am missing some details like cause of death can you add them?
There is also one complete mystery
Note: They just provided the name in the booklet and only initials are on the actual war memorial

Hi Paul,
From my experience its not all that unusual, I wrote a book on the local war memorial (88 Australian names)on the Aussies killed in WWII, Korea and Vietnam, not only were there four missing but one I could not trace in any branch of the service. The same for a school I have some dealings with (161 names) one name could have fitted a number of people.
With the local memorial the original list was made up of names published in the local papers at the time, not the best source material.
Regards,
John.

The correct name for this is Major Cyril George Jefferies 23 July 1941 Royal Engineers -- Not RAF
Son of Charles and Marjorie Jefferies from Denchworth, a small village two miles north-west of Wantage. He was born on the 19th July 1906, attended the School as a border between 1918 and 1921,
Of course A H Hatton - is Allan Price Hatton - Served as Allan Priest and killed Vickers Wellington Mk.IC R1538 of No.28 Operational Training Unit, crashed near Dilhorne in Staffordshire during the early hours of the 30th January 1943
