Default Wendling / 392nd Bombardment Group

Can anyone help me out with getting a hold of squadron records for a USAAF squadron based at Wendling in 1943? My Dad and his crew made an emergency landing in their 22 OTU Wellington on November 10th, 1943 at Wendling. The Americans (the 392ND Bombardment Group ) had answered their Mayday call and the wimpy landed on fumes. They returned to Wellesbourne the next day. I am hoping to read the squadron's account of the incident if it is available somewhere...
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Cheers, Clint

    Hi Clint,

I have found these folks far more helpful than the National Archives and Records Administration in Maryland:

    https://www.afhra.af.mil/Archival-Requests/

They also hold all Individual Deceased Personnel Files (Americans killed while serving on British or Commonwealth squadrons).

I don't have the serial but your dad was flying "DD-P" when he landed at Wendling. Three other No. 22 OTU crews also landed away from home.

    Regards,

    Dave
