    The bombing range at Hells Mouth some 10 miles from Penhros was attacked by one enemy aircraft and the book says:


    The Times (Friday, July 19, 1940) has him "Died of Wounds or Injuries Received on Active Service"

    "On 9th July 1940, a bomb-dropping mission by one enemy aircraft results in the death of
    two officers, both of whom receive fatal wounds from fragmentation bombs,
    3 blocks of Officers Quarters were destroyed, two Henleys of No 1 AACU (L3290 & L3359)
    were wrecked and a hanger destroyed".
