Aircraftman 1st Class Leonard Percy HEATH (942081) AIR81/3051RAF 1940-09-04 54 MU United Kingdom Epping Cemetery

    Another unaccounted solved

    54 MU ORB has

4.9.40 942081 AC1 HEATH L - was killed in an accident at STAPLEFORD, due to HURRICANE aircraft flying into the crane which was in use on the aerodrome

    Pilot also killed

    Hurricane 1 - V7406 151 Squadron Royal Air Force (151 Sqn RAF)

    https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/225535

"The Hurricane crashed into a crane on take off from RAF Stapleford Tawney, Abridge, Essex, and burned out in the resultant crash. P/O Ambrose was killed."

Crew: Pilot Officer Richard Ambrose (pilot, Service Number 73040, aged 21) - killed; buried at Epping Cemetery, Epping, Essex, Sec. Z. Grave 3.

HEATH death is unclear if occurred at the time (i.e on the crane or during the salvage of the aircraft)
