    Default Unaccounted airmen - 30-10-1940

    What caused the death of and/or what were the places of death registration for:

    Sgt George T. BIRKHEAD - 538032 - not found Flight archives;
    F/Sgt William FISCHER - 508027 - killed on active service, and
    Sgt Robert M. KILEY - 904568 - killed on active service.

    Proposed aircraft losses for this day:

    Battle Trainer - R7411 - 307 Sqn - abandoned 5 miles E of Goole, Yorkshire.
    Magister I - N5398 - 24 EFTS - crashed on overshoot 1 mile N of Luton.
    Master I - N7442 - 5 FTS - flew into high ground Minera, 4 mile W of Wrexham.
    Oxford I - L4624 - 3 FTS - flew into ground Highworth, Wiltshire.

    Regards and thanks for your help.
    Henk.

    Birkhead - death registered in Gipping [Suffolk]
    Fisher (note spelling - CWGC and death registration) - Registered at Gipping
    Can't find Kiley - so maybe death registered outside England and Wales (or possibly spelt slightly differently on death register)

    Doesnt look like Gipping ties in with any of the crashes so maybe some kind of ground accident.

    Hi Henk
    There is a Robert M Kylie,25, registered at Luton. If the changed spelling is the right man it could put him on Magister N5398.

    re Battle R7411, 307 Sqdn, I have this recorded as the Polish crew baling out ok, names unknown and crash site as being near Yokefleet.

    Again, does not answer Henks query but perhaps rules one aircraft out.
