    Hi

Aircraftman 2nd Class Stanley Clarence SMITH (861137) - I have him from a newspaper announcement that he died suddenly so sounds like a sudden death from natural causes.

    Hello

Sergeant Jeffrey William ALLEN (742911) - his funeral was reported in the Nottingham Journal of November 17th 1939. He had been killed when his motorcycle collided with a heifer on the Oakham to Melton road.

    Regards

    Simon

Can we take a look at http://www.rafcommands.com/database/...php?qnum=81109 again? I moved him to 'Unaccounted'
Aircraftman 2nd Class William Charles HILSDON (616753) of the Royal Air Force

I missed the earlier conversation between Paul and Malcolm http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/sho...703#post138703 .

I note the source seems to be IBCC / BCL .. Would be great to validate via other sources

Originally CWGC had him as 9 Sqdn, but now he is shown as 215 Sqdn.. nothing in the ORB though...

IBCC https://losses.internationalbcc.co.uk/loss/213047 does say "He was on attachment from 215 Squadron, then part of 11 Operational Training Unit based at Honington"

ORB Page 38 https://discovery.nationalarchives.g...mageViewerLink lists only four names and Hilsdon is not shown

His burial in Oxford provides an Oxford address but with ‘late RAF Honnigton Suffolk”

    re: Suicide:

He committed suicide on the LMS Railway line between Adlerley Edge and Wilmslow

    Daily Mirror - Monday 01 January 1940

    REJECTED LOVER: WAS STUNNED

    <Photo Of Kathleen Burns>

Monday, January 1, 1940 With bandaged head skilfully hidden with a scarf draped turban-like, twenty-one-year-old Kathleen Burns, typist, of Wilmslow (Cheshire). She had let eighteen-year-old Leonard James Hunn, R.A.F. wireless operator, take her home. He proposed to her—she said " No." Turning to say goodbye to him, she saw him raise something in his hand to strike her. Then she fell unconscious. Next day Hunns was found dead on the railway line. After Miss Burns had told this story at the inquest, the coroner said her conduct had been correct, and she was in no way to blame for what had happened.

Aircraftman 2nd Class William Charles HILSDON (616753) 1939-09-08 215 Sqdn United Kingdom Cowley (St. James) Churchyard

-- We know that he died now in Motor Cycle Accident

    BUT I don't think

Leading Aircraftman Frederick Thomas PRICE (512105) "was killed whilst flying Oxford II, N6383 of No 13 SFTS, which crashed during a forced landing at Barberton in East Lothian He is buried in Oxford (Rose Hill) Cemetery."

As his death was registered in Oxfordshire not Scotland Also he Died on Active Service not was Killed

    also

    Owen Henry John Jordan
    Brize Norton Aerodrome
    Buried 23rd October 1939
    Aged 23
    Chaplain RAF

is on the SAME Death Register with

Surname First name(s) Age District Vol Page
    Deaths Dec 1939 (>99%)

HILSDON William C 20 Witney 3a 2671 Scan available - click to view

Price Frederick T 27 Witney 3a 2671 Scan available - click to view

So I wonder if they are both linked with same MotorCycle Accident? and it is a late death registration for them both -- Yes as Winfield Elizabeth Ann 76 DIED 20/10/1939

    Jordan Owen H J 23 Witney 3a 2671 Scan available - click to view _> Jordan Killed 18th Oct !
