    Malcolm thanks very very useful

    8.9.39
    Wellington I L4320, 9 Sqn, Honington

Hit trees low flying near Berners Heath range, 4m SW of Thetford

Plt Off Harold Rosofsky (26) killed (South African)
Plt Off Bruce Innes Clifford-Jones (22) killed (New Zealander)
    AC1 Hugh McGreevy (23) killed
    AC1 Thomas Purdie (24) killed

AC2 William Charles Hilsdon (20) killed

The trouble I have with Hilsdon is that his death is registered at Witney Oxfordshire in another Qtr see below while all the rest were registered in Newmarket

I canít see how he could be on the Wellington - He is also not mentioned AFAIK in the 9 Sqn ORB in relation to this crew

Witney is ok for RAF Brize Norton

Unless his death was registered later I note he buried Cowley Oxfordshire, so his presence on the plane may have been initially missed

. 9 Sqn were based at RAF Honington (as were 215 Sqn) in Suffolk so close to Thetford in Norfolk

    Hi Paul

I agree there is certainly a mismatch here, so I doubt he was on L4320.

    Here's one more:

Aircraftman 2nd Class David BRIGHT (935091) - his death was announced in the Newcastle Journal, January 3rd 1940:

BRIGHT – St. Anthony’s Estate, 2, Kennington Grove, on December 30th (suddenly), aged 22 years, David (wireless operator, R.A.F.), dearly loved son of David and Kate Bright. Interment Heaton Cemetery, Wednesday, with Military Honours; cortege leaves residence 2.15 p.m. All friends and neighbours invited.

The National Probate Calendar records him as David Atkin Bright, and states that he died at the General Hospital, 418 Westgate Road, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Aircraftman 2nd Class Albert Henry Sheddon KING (842347):

The Taunton Courier of October 14th 1939 reported the following:

    Kerb or White Line?
Standing in London Road, Mitcham, apparently undecided which was the kerb and which the white line, Aircraftman Albert Henry Sheddon King (42), of Yarmouth, was knocked down by and killed by a lorry. The verdict at Tuesday's inquest was "Accidental death."
