    ApriI 24, Newbury Hospital (accident), aged 18 years. JAMES BANHAM (R.A.F.). beloved son of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Legge, 81 Wavertree Nook Road. Interred with military honours at Yatesbury ..

    I wonder if the accident was to do with 10 EFTS. ?

    It certainly looks like he was in training to be aircrew see below

    Of course accident could be road etc he is down as Died on Active Service

    WW2 RAF Type B Leather flying helmet with dog tags. Helmet and tags belonged to James Banham Legge aircraftsman 2nd class. Legge was born in Liverpool 1922. Killed 24th April 1940 and buried at All Saints Church, Yatesbury, Wiltshire.Helmet is a size 1 made by Frank Bryan Limited, London 1939. Condition of leather is very good and both earpieces contain original blanking sponges. Picture shows memorial at All Saints Church where aircraftsman Legge was buried.
