Default 210 Sq RAF Catalina serials + individual letters

    Hi all,

I am interested if anyone can help me with serials + individual letters of Catalinas serving with 210 Sq in late 1944 and early 1945?

The squadron ORB stated only individual letters.

I am researching three serials for individual letters at the moment - maybe later there will be some more.

Catalina A - I have no idea of serial

    Catalina Q - possibly Catalina Mk.IVa JX257 Q lost on 3.4.1945?

Catalina W - maybe JX222 overhanded by 190 Sq in January 1944 if the individual letter was kept, but I do not know when this aircraft was overhanded further to 202 Sq.

    Any help much appreciated

    Hello,

    Can't help with "A".

    "Q", definitely JX257, lost on 3/4/45 (p.97 - Capt. F/L N W Wraight).)

And "W" - Briefly - On return from his 'wedding leave', Desmond Mock disappeared from Frances' view, 'though the Squadron was very good about letting her know that even though I had gone silent, I had not left her'.
Operation Puritan had Mock setting out for Grasnya at 11:17 on 20th April (1944), flying JX264/W with F/O Barnes as co-pilot and Arthur Dawson as navigator, F/O H B Merrick was also aboard, radio crew were F/Sgt H Roberts WOM/AG, WOps Sgts C Pelton and D J Robertson while F/Sgts S H Geiss and P C Shenton were FME and FME/AG respectively. (p.87).

    Hi Colin,

thank you very much for info provided.
First of all I was a little bit confused while checking the old thread:
    http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/sho...264-off-Orkney
But finally it looks like there was an error in the original post and correct serial of crashat Cat is JX266 instead of JX264.
RAF Serials by AB also stated for JX264 SOC 10.3.47.

So I would consider that JX264 was the "W" with 210 Sq till the end of WWII.

I hope someone else would be able to help also with 210 Sq Catalina „A“
